The internal part of the tape is coated with a hot melt adhesive which liquefies during the shrinking phase and envelops the object thus blocking it and guaranteeing protection against infiltration of water and humidity. It is generally used for electrically and mechanically insulating busbar up to 24KV and irregularly-shaped objects, in situations where it is not possible to apply closed protective tubing.
